Climate-friendly renovation in Düsseldorf: Kömmerling and Peter van Kempen seize the opportunity with "Rec 55"
Düsseldorf, the state capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, is driving forward climate protection in housing. The "Climate-friendly living and working in Düsseldorf" funding programme aims to modernise around 55,000 residential buildings in need of renovation in a climate-friendly way.
Special attention is being paid to the energy-efficient refurbishment of windows. The programme supports the replacement of windows with up to 150 euros per square metre of window area, provided they are for example made of domestic wood or PVC-U profiles with a recycled content of more than 55 percent. This subsidy is more than twice as high as that for windows made from imported wood, for example.
In order to be eligible for the subsidy, the new windows in the renovation must generally have a Uw value of at least 0.95 W/(m²K). The required proportion of recycled material must be verified by a profile-related certificate from the RAL Quality Association for PVC-U window profiles.
Sustainable profile systems
profine Group is committed to sustainability and has been using coloured recycled material in its main profiles for over twenty years. In the Kömmerling system with a construction depth of 76 millimetres, the system provider now offers profiles that fully meet the requirements of "Rec 55". These profiles, known as the "R" variants of the Kömmerling 76 double seal system, are equipped with the corresponding RAL certification.
An exemplary implementation of this promotion was realised by the partner window specialist company Peter van Kempen GmbH from the city of Nettetal. The company modernised a total of six apartment buildings with around 400 windows on the street block of Ardennenstraße in Düsseldorf. All windows in the flats and corridors as well as all balcony doors were replaced with more energy-efficient and more sustainable elements of the "R" variant from Kömmerling.
New opportunities in the market
Philipp Schepers, Managing Director of Peter van Kempen GmbH, emphasises: "With the profile systems from Kömmerling, we always have the right solutions for all market requirements. Now that more and more property developers are placing increased demands on the sustainability and recycling of building materials, the specific `Rec` profile series from Kömmerling is just right. It is also a solution for the future of sustainability in window construction."
Friedhelm van den Berg, Area Sales Manager Germany at profine Group, also sees great potential in the new product line: "The Kömmerling `55-Rec` series fits perfectly into our sustainability strategy and will also open up additional opportunities in the market for our customers in the future."
The cooperation between profine Group and Peter van Kempen GmbH impressively demonstrates how modern technologies and sustainable materials can be combined to make residential construction more climate-friendly and at the same time increase the comfort of residents - and ultimately open up new opportunities in the market for window manufacturers.
